Yes, the publish date of this article is only 2 months into 2021 but here we are, already talking about 2022! 2021 will feature the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World and still try to maximize the potential and safety of COVID protocols but this still may not be the year for a few families. No doubt, this is very early in the year for Disney to release openings to book vacations in the next year. 1) Why do you think they released 2022 rates so early?
They know that people are excited to get back to Disney, especially knowing that the 50th birthday is coming up. People may need a little bit of extra time to plan and save and they want to offer them that. We are all hopeful that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and hoping that the pandemic is coming to a close.
2) Why would I even consider 2022 when we are not even 2 full months into 2021?
It gives guests something to look forward to. We are able to pay a little bit down every month so that it doesn’t feel so expensive. It makes it feel POSSIBLE for some families who usually feel like it is IMPOSSIBLE! With the extra time to pay off the trip, it might allow some to stay in a more deluxe resort that has been on a bucket list!
3) Is there anything I should be looking forward to in 2022?
SO much new is coming! The new TRON ride, the Ratatouille ride in France, the Moana experience at EPCOT…it is always exciting when new attractions open up. What about the reimaging of Splash Mountain into Princess and the Frog?!! Some are sad about this but many are excited! My hubby especially can’t wait to hear more about the Star Wars resort! And….Walt Disney World turns 50 on October 1st. The celebration will last 18 months meaning all of 2022!!! When Disney celebrates a birthday, they celebrate BIG!! We are all going to want to say that we visited Disney World during the 50th birthday celebration!
4) You obviously don’t know but what “normal” things do you think will return in 2022?
I obviously don’t have a crystal ball but I think we will definitely see fireworks and the dining plan by 2022! I think we might even possibly see or learn about a new way/system of doing fast passes? I am hopeful that masks will be a thing of the past by 2022!!!
