Last week, we began our Special Rooms Series by taking a look at the Little Mermaid rooms at the Art of Animation resort.  These rooms were the other ones in our series that are housed at a value resort.  Today’s room comes to us from Caribbean Beach, a moderate resort.  And if it wasn’t different enough from last week, this week, we’re looking at pirates!

Welcome to Believe Vacations Weekly Post where today, we’ll continue our series looking at some of the special rooms available for you to stay at during your Walt Disney World stay.  Today, we’ll take a look at the Pirate rooms which are located at the Caribbean Beach resort.  We’ll give you the highlights, the positives, the areas we think need improvement, some visuals and our best recommendations for why you would want to make that room your home for the entirety of your stay.  So drink up, me hearties…

Location

As we mentioned, the rooms are found at the Caribbean Beach resort.  They are located near Spyglass Grill which is in the Trinidad South area of the resort. Having an exterior entrance is not the worst thing in the world and the room number outside is marked with pirate markings.

Theming

And before you even think about booking this room, watching the Pirates of the Caribbean movies will allow you to appreciate most of the details.  Even without watching, I think you’ll enjoy the pirate theme.  In fact, there are tons of large and small nautical touches throughout.

Furniture

The beds will immediately jump out to you as they look like little boats.  They have mast headboards, the lights above the bed are lamps on the mast of the ships, and the box spring areas resemble the underside of the boat. However, for all the coolness of the look of the bed, there is no space underneath and, brace yourself, these are full size beds only!

The other features are built for scalliwags of all ages.  The mirror frame has the coins from 1st POTC movie so again, watch the movie and it’ll be that much more of a surprise.  There is a treasure chest in the room for storage, a wooden barrel with the fridge built in that doubles as your nightstand and finally, the drawers look like crates.

Living Area Features

We’re all about the movies and attraction in our decorations, right down to the wood framing surrounding lots of red and black.  Look down and you’ll notice the carpet is a compass.  There is at least 1 picture on the wall which is a scene from the iconic attraction.  The table in the corner has a Jack Sparrow compass on it.

Bathroom Features

The thin curtain separating the living area and bathroom is a Pirates of the Caribbean skull and sword logo but even more cool are the end caps of the hanging rod which makes it a sword.  The sink are features double vanities with wooden pirate floors in bathroom area.  There are boat riggings used to tie up on the dock that act as coat hooks.  The actual bathroom is nothing special but the shower looks like cinderblocks and the shower curtain has the pirate ship fleet from POTC movies.

Final Thoughts

You may think this would only be fun for boys but I know many young ladies who would love this room.  Yes, the themeing and playing up of the Pirates franchise is amazing.  I know my boys would be engaging in fake sword fights and duels the whole time we’re in the room.  But I can not express how disappointing it would be to find yourself in full-size beds for a long vacation.  It really comes down to that when considering this room. So let’s say if its one parent and one boy, this would be a great choice!
