At the time of this published article, Walt Disney World will be 30 days into their 50th Anniversary Celebration. Believe Vacations Agents have been on the grounds the entire time – from the minute the parks opened on the 1st all through the last night of Boo Bash, we have enjoyed meeting up with each other and bringing our own family’s to celebrate the world’s most magical celebration. Admittedly, there have been aspects of the celebration that have stood out a little more than others and that’s why we’re here today.
Welcome to Believe Vacations’ Weekly Post where today, we are going to provide you with initial impressions from our agents who have visited Walt Disney World during the initial month of their 50th Anniversary celebration. For this article, the question was posed, “What is the ONE thing you enjoyed the most about the 50th Anniversary in its first month?” Agents could answer in a variety of ways but we did learn that many agreed on several aspects. So let’s see what you can look forward to when you attend the celebration yourself:
The Vault
Victoria Levario – The vault collection has been pretty amazing especially seeing so many things I had as a kid.
Ashley Suit – I love the retro merch. The Vault collection is heart eyes!
Creating Our Own Memories from the 50th
Tiffany Bigelow – The colors, costumes, statues, music, fireworks, coins, special treats, and merchandise! Being there to kick it off October 1st was the best!!!
Leanze Jones-Kuhnapfel – Just to experience it with my little guy! The memories to share for years!
Attraction Nostalgia
Brian Pavlick – It seems as though people are giving some well-deserved love to those original attractions. Crowds for Country Bear Jamboree, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, heck, even Swiss Family Treehouse seem to have larger than usual crowds. Awesome to see nostalgia still alive!
Kim Courtney Gregorio – I have loved the nostalgia of the original rides and all the cool items at the vintage shop.
Ashley Suit – Yes I love the love for the classics too. And frogs have returned to Jungle Cruise!
Past Meets Present
Mary Morning Radcliffe – I love seeing aspects from the past being integrated into the present. For me, this was most notable with the newly renovated Contemporary lobby (not the rooms). It includes historical photos, concept art, a tribute to Mary Blair, and Mary Blair inspired art. One of my favorite updates is that the “new” wall covering is actually the wall paper that was intended to be used for the Contemporary’s opening in 1971 but it was never used due to production delays.
Amanda Doyle – I LOVED THIS!!! Pointing it out to my kids while I was there and they were so intrigued by it!
Dana Zachry – I love the “then and now” stories. Opening day cast members who are still involved with the company today, guests who were there on opening day revisiting the parks now, etc.
Kasie Baird – And it was super fun to meet two original cast members on the night of the 50th celebration!! And I think the castle is really pretty!
Tiffany Bigelow – Loved riding/watching all the originals on October 1st! That was so fun!!!
New Items for the 50th
Kasie Baird – I thought the statues and the coins were fun…special things to “collect” or find that are brand new for the 50th. I also enjoyed trying the new foods. ☺️
Ashley Holbrook Oldham – My family did a scavenger hunt for the 50 statues and it was so fun!
Chad McClurg – The Snacks! I love that everything was themed, next trip I only want to eat things that say “50” on it!
Jennifer Hummel – I love the new costumes, name tags, statues, and food! There’s a feel in the air of excitement and celebration that makes Walt Disney World even more special!
Amanda Wheeling – For me, it’s the fireworks and nighttime spectaculars throughout all of the parks. Animal Kingdom was gorgeous at night. People watching and seeing people go nuts for merchandise made me smile too. It’s an 18 month celebration, with new releases coming more often then we may notice, so being able to snag my favorite Disney, Starbucks coffee cups in a store most don’t pay attention to, made me smile, as I skipped merrily passed the craziness.
Mary Morning Radcliffe – I also love the Beacons of Magic. Spaceship Earth is clearly the best!
