The great prophet Cyndi Lauper once said, “Girls just wanna have fun!” At Disney, this is no exception. From dressing as their favorite princess to dancing during the dance parties; from first thrill ride with that significant other to finding a rocking chair and people watching, girls find all kinds of entertainment when there are on the Walt Disney Resort property. It doesn’t matter what age a lady is because she’ll always be a kid at heart here. But if you’ve never taken girls to Disney, is there anything special to plan for, anticipate or need to know? Thankfully, we have some Believers who can assist!
Welcome to Believe Vacations’ Weekly Post where today, we are going to share with you about how to do Disney with girls. Meet Melanie Blackstock. Melanie is one of our more popular agents with her quick wit, great advice and genuine care for her clients. No doubt, these traits come from raising 3 amazing daughters – Molly (Elementary School), Hailey (Middle School) and Emily (High School). All four of these ladies sat down with us to share their advice and experiences about what they enjoy most about Disney and were kind enough to share their answers. So let’s start with the Mama portion of the interview…
What do you pack traveling with the girls?
When the girls were younger, I planned every outfit, everyone had to match, the perfect hairbows, the whole thing. But now, the kids like to pick out their own outfits. The older girls love Disney bounding. We share Ears and we always have to purchase new ones when we can. But we pack light in the park so we don’t have to lug everything around.
Do the girls have collections they are currently into?
I have the most Loungeflys but they are starting to collect the nuiMOs and we got 3 the previous trip to Disney. They especially love Daisy because she is fashionable and we can dress her up. And some of the other agents have gotten the girls hooked on pin trading. They love going up to the boards and looking at least!
As a Mom, what is it like emotionally to see the girls inside a Disney park?
I still get excited. Growing up at Disney, I love sharing those moments with them. I get emotional when I see my husband hold their hands and walk or just watching them enjoy Main Street. We try to limit the phone and electronic usage and really spend quality family time that is truly valuable.
Are we just over Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boutique at this age?
I only have one that would still be interested and with cousins. But we’re kind of past it. We never did it. We brought our own dresses one time. Guess it’s just something to do with future grandkids if they still have that service then.
What are your favorites?
Favorite Attraction?
Molly – Expedition Everest because it goes backwards!
Hailey – Rock N Roller Coaster because it has the cool loops.
Emily – Tower of Terror. It’s just so fun!
Melanie – Tower of Terror because of the theming and overall feeling of thrill.
Favorite Restaurant?
Molly – Sci-Fi Drive-In has good food and it’s fun to sit in the cars.
Hailey – Sci-Fi too! I loved my hamburger.
Emily – Tony’s Town Square in Magic Kingdom is very yummy!
Melanie – Bengal BBQ in Disneyland was amazing but I really like my chili cheese fries from Casey’s Corner watching the fireworks.
Favorite Snack?
Molly – Popcorn!
Hailey – Churros and Mickey Bars
Emily – Mickey pretzel but it HAS to be Mickey. The other pretzels are not as good.
Melanie – Our family favorite is the Num Num Cookie. We all get a bite!
Favorite Resort?
Molly – Boardwalk because I won all the prizes at the games we played.
Hailey – Boardwalk because it was near the lake and really cool at night.
Emily – Boardwalk because the pizza was really good and it was really close to EPCOT. It was very chill.
Melanie – Boardwalk as well but it was everything the girls mentioned plus ice cream, the movies on the lawn, the pool with the water slide, too much to name!
If you had one piece of advice, it would be…
Molly – Go on Everest!
Hailey – At night, go to Pandora!
Emily – Go to Boba stand at night and get one.
Melanie – Don’t try to do it all in one trip. Do the things you want to do and if you don’t do it, plan another trip and go again! Get a popcorn and a coke and just sit still and watch the magic!
