Top Themed Attractions (Magic Kingdom Edition)

By October 27, 2017 April 8th, 2019 No Comments

Welcome to Believe Vacation’s countdown to the GREATEST DISNEY ATTRACTION OF ALL TIME as today, we reveal our agent polling results by revealing the Top Themed Magic Kingdom Attractions. For this list, we take the entire attraction or show experience including queue area, pre-shows, actual attraction design and post-attraction de-boarding and consider all those for our rankings.  And now, based on the results, we present them in the following tiers:

The Bare Necessities

Astro Orbiter – Rocket ships that go round and round in the air.  Pretty simple to me.

Liberty Square Riverboat – While the design of the boat is truly amazing, there is nothing much more to add.

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – A rotating theater that is fun to watch but not all-encompassing.

Prince Charming Regal Carrousel – Plenty of horses to choose from but no interactivity while you wait.

Walt Disney World Railroad – The old school train station and steam whistle take you back to a simpler Main Street time.

The Barnstormer – To say this whole attraction is GOOFY is a true understatement.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover – The seats and the vehicles are uncreative but we forgive it due to the sights it provides.

Mad Tea Party –  Like the Carrousel, not too much to enhance this attraction outside of sitting in gigantic tea cups.

Tomorrowland Speedway – The Indy 500 look and feel and smell of gas couldn’t move this attraction into the second tier.

Something There

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin – Unlike the Astro Orbiter, this revolving attraction made the second tier.  Must be the camels that flank the ride.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant – And in the same way, Dumbo is here because of the large circus tent that is part of the overall theme.

Mickey’s PhilharMagic – The lobby makes you feel like you are going to see the orchestra and the stage and sound really maximize every sense you have.

The Hall of Presidents – The Colonial house you walk into, the columns and auditorium style seats and of course, the patriotic sights and sounds really make this one having you shout “USA!”

Enchanted Tiki Room – Polynesian culture invades the Magic Kingdom and singing tropical birds make you feel like you’re on the islands.

The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh – From Rabbit’s Garden to Owl’s House to Pooh’s dream and to a land full of Heffalumps and Woozles, this one has it all, and in a Hunny Pot to boot!

Peter Pan’s Flight – After a journey through the Darling nursery, we board an actual pirate ship and fly!  Yes, you can fly!  While the animatronics and sounds may be a little dated, it’s still Neverland and this is still a popular attraction!

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – You are using a weapon to save the Galaxy from the evil Emperor Zurg.  And everything from start to finish is like a video game, even giving you a score.  Far out man!

Space Mountain – Shooting stars, dips and turns, and the darkness of space await you on your cosmic journey in a rocket ship.  Far out man part II!

Country Bear Jamboree – With the inviting front porch beckoning you to enter the entertainment venue of Frontierland, Bear Hall and its wooden benches is the perfect location to hear the great western songs of yesteryear!

Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor – It’s simple: our monster friends now require our laughs for their energy.  So why not enter their world through the comedy lounge surrounded by energy containers?

Swiss Family Treehouse – It’s a really large tree, folks! But just like the family in the movie made it a home, you’ll want to spend a great deal of time exploring everything this amazing tree has to offer you!

“it’s a small world” – The idea that this attraction could have hundreds of dolls in authentic, native garb, speaking and singing in their native languages is downright freaky to some but beautiful to others.

A Whole New World

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – As construction for the new gem of Fantasyland was ongoing, we began to see rolling hills that reminded us of a forest.  Only until the attraction opened did we discover life in a mine (in a mine!).  Within mine cart vehicles, we are surrounded by thousands of jewels and gems.  And then we take that same mine cart on our way back home through the winding tracks.  A real treat for all Snow White fans!

Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid – Another new edition to Fantasyland, seeing Prince Eric’s Castle off in the distance is only a sampling of what’s in store Under the Sea.  Once we get there, we are completely overwhelmed by hundreds of aquatic animals singing and dancing and having a raucously awesome time.  Never mind the HUGE Ursula animatronic, this attraction represents the beauties that marine life can provide.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad –The “wildest ride in the wilderness” could only be housed in the wildest land in the Magic Kingdom.  From the old prospector costumes of the cast members to the mine cars in the Wild West, this fast moving roller coaster speedily passes by old fossils, shooting geysers, cannons and dynamite.  As the only attraction in this tier without an animatronic character, the themeing of this attraction is mostly made up of those memorable thrills!

Enchanted Tales with Belle – This attraction ain’t so quiet in the little village.  After wandering through Maurice’s house, the power of magic brings us inside the majestic castle of the Beast.  From there, we meet a few of the talking household objects and then, we get to meet Belle herself.  No animatronic or digital representation of her.  The real Belle!  That alone gets this attraction in the top tier.

Splash Mountain – Log flume rides are popular at amusement parks.  But this particular log flume ride sets an incredible bar.  Take the large logs you sit in.  Just floating down the river through the briar patch.  Then, consider the ongoing story we watch as that crazy duo of Brer Fox and Brer Bear try to capture Brer Rabbit.  And then look at all the happy critters singing fun songs and….HOLY MOLEY WE’RE GOING TO DROP!  And with that, plenty of sunshine is heading our way!

Jungle Cruise – If true jungle river adventures are comedic by nature, then this attraction should be higher on the list.  But because I’ve never on a real one, I’ll just assume this is exactly like it’s supposed to be.  Alright, so maybe I’m playing around but it is cool to be on a boat and to come face-to-face with all kinds of animals.

Image result for haunted mansion

Haunted Mansion – Ah yes, my personal favorite and there is just too much to mention.  I like to think the Imagineers just kept adding more and more and more to top each other until they could not do anything else.  Even with the addition of the interactive queue outside the attraction, they just keep adding to the legend of this attraction.  And wouldn’t you think a real haunted house would have secret chambers, a stretching room, doom buggies and yes, ghosts?  999 to be exact!

Pirates of the Caribbean – I’ve never had a pirate’s life for me.  I know it’s full of lawbreaking and no-good antics.  But man, does this attraction make pirate life look like a great time!  Shooting cannonballs across the water at other pirates, ransacking the village and helping yourself to the gold and drinks.  The overall perfect themed attraction!

Did we miss anything?  Which attraction would you say has more theming than our team rated it?  Leave your answer in the comment section below and as always, there’s a great, big, beautiful tomorrow!
