Best Overall Attractions (50-41)

By December 27, 2017 April 8th, 2019 No Comments

The bottom ten has been revealed! We continue the results of our daily countdown series that will reveal what our agents voted to be THE GREATEST DISNEY ATTRACTION OF ALL TIME.

Time to reveal numbers 50-41:

50. Tomorrowland Speedway

It ain’t the Indy 500 but for youngsters, it’s the first lesson they get behind the wheel from mom or dad.  This attraction is a ton of fun but it can also be one that once you start, you just want it to be over and regret waiting so long in the Florida sun to ride.  Regardless, time is passing this attraction by and is ranked about where it should be.

49. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress

There are many reasons why this attraction should be lower in the rankings – It’s very old, it’s very dated, it’s educational, it’s tucked into the back corner of Tomorrowland, there are no princesses and there is not a great queue area.  But it has a song.  In fact, it has THE song!  And because of that song, it takes its proper place in this tier level.

48. Spaceship Earth

As the iconic structure at the front of Epcot, Disney newbies may not realize this is actually a ride.  And this mistake is forgivable because you do not ride inside Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom.  While this attraction may not provide as many thrills as the other attractions at Epcot, it does tell a great story and is complete with some of the most stunning visuals in all of Disney Parks.

47. Swiss Family Treehouse

Like Carousel of Progress, this one is an acquired taste.  It falls into one of those situations where if you have experienced it in the past, you make a point to do it when you visit.  On the contrary, if you have not experienced this in the past, there really is no draw to start now.  Consequently, many of our agents fall into the former category.

46. Mad Tea Party

One of the most iconic attractions in Disney Park history, the “tea cups” represent a slow transition from the amusement parks of the 1950s to the “worlds” created by Disney.  To make this transition, the Mad Tea Party was a copied version of similar county fair rides but skinned to reflect a classic Disney movie.  And that is why it’s thought of with fondness.  But it still makes you sick and dizzy and that’s why it can’t crack a higher tier even with all the nice things I just said about it!

45. Walt Disney World Railroad

What can be more iconic than a simple train ride around the most famous amusement park in the world?  Until the welcome show moved inside the park, kids of all ages saw the train pull up to the station and many of our favorite characters hop out.  Finding a home in this tier level is a tribute to the wonderful history of Walt Disney and his love for steam trains.

From Agent Tiffany Bigelow: “I have enjoyed the train since I was a kid. With my boys- if we just need a 20-30 minute break from walking we jump on the train for a rest and a view of the park!”

44. Tomorrowland PeopleMover

The infamous People Mover in Tomorrowland winds its way high above the futuristic side of the Magic Kingdom.  There are no characters, no incredible queue, no iconic song and it does not go fast.  What it is fondly remembered for is the views it provides, especially at night, and the sneak peak inside Space Mountain.  It’s harmless and enjoyable and gives you the wonderful sensation of resting while riding!

43. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

At only 20 years of age, Winnie-the-Pooh has solidified itself as one of the most popular attractions at the Magic Kingdom.  There are still a few among us that will never forgive it for replacing the iconic Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.  But Pooh was one of the first to have an interactive queue where you got to engage into the world of the attraction and not just wait in line.  The characters are classic, the Hunny Pot you ride in is cute and the Hundred Acre Woods has never looked better.

From Agent Becky Willis: “Definitely one of the very best queues for younger kiddos. Our girls enjoy that part as much as the ride!!”

42. Country Bear Jamboree

The hottest act in Frontierland has been going strong for 40 years.  Smaller kids may not appreciate the quirky lyrics and again, if you have not made this attraction a part of your trip in the past, you likely may not in the future.  But for us who appreciate this attraction for what it brings to the table, we find ourselves clapping and singing along every time.  The Jamboree properly finds itself in this tier and I have no doubt it’ll consider it a fine prize to be accepted as such.

41. The Hall of Presidents

As the educational stalwart in Liberty Square, the Hall of Presidents serves as both a salute to the past as well as a tribute to the imagineering complexities of having multiple animatronics engaged into one show.  There are zero thrills (unless people start responding to President Trump’s speech) and it is oft considered the “let’s get out of the rain” Magic Kingdom attraction.  Pay attention though and you’ll hear some of the core principles we, as Americans, live by today and the sight of all the Presidents on the same stage is still one of the most iconic in Disney Parks.  Get out of the rain if you must, but use it as a teaching moment to your kids.

From Agent Kyle Holland: “As a child, this attraction was most commonly used as a mid day nap opportunity during our visits to the Magic Kingdom. As an adult however, it offers a unique perspective into our country’s history, and is proof of the advanced technology that Disney has always had. Thinking back to the audio-animatronic figures that are made to look so much like our President’s is just incredible, especially considering when this attraction first came into the fold back in the day.”

Conclusion:

Numbers 50-41 are dominated by some of the opening day classics at the Magic Kingdom.  In fact, all but one comes from the Magic Kingdom.  They are the attractions that once were the bee’s knees in their heydays but now, only nostalgia remains.

But what say you?  Should one of these have been in the bottom 10?  Top 10?!  Leave your comments in the section below and remember, there’s a great, big, beautiful tomorrow!
